Dr Michael Ow-Yang
Michael was born in Sydney and attended Sydney Grammar School. He completed his undergraduate medical degree at the Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand and the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He achieved Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degrees with First Class Honors.
Michael’s internship and resident medical officer training was undertaken at The Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick. He trained in neurosurgery at St George Hospital, Kogarah, the Gold Coast Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, the Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick, and Liverpool Hospital.
In 2011 Michael graduated from the Australasian Neurosurgical training programme and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He travelled to the United Kingdom for further fellowship training in spine surgery at the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.
Michael’s particular areas of interest include:
New technology using a high-powered operating microscope as well as intra-operative CT scanning and stereotactic guidance is available at the National Capital Private Hospital (Canberra).
Michael’s goal is to provide a holistic approach to pain problems and provide the most effective yet least invasive treatment approach available to alleviate pain and improve patient outcomes.
Our staff enjoy working with Michael as he works extremely hard to obtain good outcomes for his patients and appreciates the efforts of his team in facilitating this care. In his rare time away from work he enjoys kickboxing, the odd DIY project, and skiing and bike riding with his family.
Michael currently consults in Canberra and Wagga Wagga. He has admitting rights and operates in the National Capital Private Hospital (Canberra) and Calvary Healthcare Riverina (Wagga).
